任务

Job description
Lausanne University hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaborations with the Biology and Medicine Faculty of Lausanne University (UNIL) and EPFL, CHUV plays a key role in medical care, medical research and education.
The Institute of Radiation Physics (IRA), part of Radiology Department of CHUV and UNIL, develops its activities in the fields of ionizing radiation in medicine (medical physics) and the protection of workers and the public against ionizing radiation (health physics).
The PhD student will carry out a research project in the physics of medical imaging thanks to a research grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation.
The PhD student will also be able to take part in the teaching activities as well as services of the institute. In parallel to the thesis work, the PhD student will have the possibility to obtain the professional board certification in medical physics.
This research is funded by the Swiss National Science Fundation and will be performed within the framework of the doctoral school of UNIL.
Mission
You will carry out a research project in the physics of image quality in radiology. You will be involved in the development of 3D phantom that mimics the abdomen of a real patient. You will conduct psychophysical experiments with the help of radiologists and up-to-date instruments like cutting-edge CT scanners and an eye tracker to develop a mathematical observer (model observer) able to reproduce the search and detection performance of radiologists. You will also organize an international comparison on image quality and uncertainties with most of the laboratories active in the field.
